Lantana veluntina, a native of Monteverde, occurs from 900 to 1,600m and can be found anywhere from Mexico to Argentina. It is often found in old pastures and second-growth forests.
This shrub has hairy square stems and gives off a pungent odor. Its white flower heads attract various hummingbirds and butterflies. It flowers and fruits year-round and is an evergreen.
It is easily propagated from cuttings and is considered an ornamental, making it a great candidate for native-species landscaping.
